Dark Guitar is the second of a series of Libraries that has been designed to provide an expansive range of dark and suspenseful textures whilst providing controls to allow the Composer to easily invent unique sounds.

This Virtual Instrument features 5 Instruments each completely different. Some are melodic in nature while others are purely textural.

WALL OF SOUND CONTROLS

Each of the 4 Guitars has its own bank of controls for - Guitar On/Off, Volume, Pan, Speaker Cabinet On/Off, Speaker Cabinet Selection, Distortion Unit On/Off. Distortion Unit Controls : Drive, Tone, Treble, Bass

THE INSTRUMENTS

Wall of Sound : 4 Guitars in One. Each has its own individual bank of controls.

Fading Lead Guitar : Mimics the effect of fading in each note of an Electric Gutar using the volume knob. Capable of very eerie and ghostly tones.

Chord Pad : Houses just under 2 Octaves of Major and Minor Chords, one Key for each, and their reversed equivalents.

SFX Instrument : Contains a variety of Pick Scrapes, Body Hits and Other Noises.

Textural Loops : Contains a Selection of Endless Looped Atmospheric and Textural Samples

FILTERS AND ENVELOPES

Shape the tone of each sound each sound with two 4 - Pole Adaptive Resonant filters - one High Pass, one Low Pass.

Glide your sounds in or turn long ones into short ones with the full ADSR volume shaping envelope controls

LFO VOLUME MODULATION

Each instrument has a multi-LFO based volume modulator so you can add everything from subtle vibrato to full-on tremelo effects. RSSD02 Dark Guitar also responds to pitch wheel movments which can be used for string bends and vibrato.

WHEN THE SAMPLE STARTS

Many of the sounds in this library are long. You can change the starting point of each sound by tweaking the Playback Offset Controls. This is especially useful for tailoring reverse hits to your music.

To play the detail between notes or not....

We sampled all the intervallic leaps up to an octave throughout the instruments range, both upwards and downwards. When you play two notes using Adaptive Legato it instantly analyses the interval you play and applies the appropriate transitional sample between the notes. The result is a smooth and realistic legato performance.

ADAPTIVE LEGATO vs HYBRID LEGATO

Adaptive ? Our system will change the length and volume of the transition samples depending on how quickly you play notes - slow transitions for slow passages, quick for quick!

Your input in all this ? You can control overall transition speed, how much of the "front" part of the next note is taken (how smooth do you want your legato) and overall loudness of the transition intervals.

Our Adaptive True Legato System is Monophonic.

Major

CHORDS

Not limited to specific strumming patterns or rhythms - you play in what you like. When one of the Chord Switches is engaged two sections of the Keyboard open up - one for Down Strums one for Up Strums.

You can choose from Bar Chords, Open Chords and Power Chords

"Free Chord Play" - Simply use the top end of the Keyboard to select the type of Chord you want then play in the Root Notes as you like. This is a simple, flexible and naturally intuitive way of playing Chords. If you can tap out simple rhythms with your left and right hands then you can easily play Chords on our Guitars.

We also have a secion of the keyboard for what we call "Dead Strums". These are muted Percussive Strums. These can be used to punctuate your rhythmic Chord playing to funk up your vamps.

"Speed and Emphasis" - Easily control Strum Speed and Note Emphasis (bringing out high or low notes of each Chord) with simple Dial Controls.

TREMOLANDO

Switch this on for rapid note picking. You adjust the speed - the instrument will randomly allocate a note from the appropriate articulations group to give a human fast picked sound.

Each Dial/Switch on the Main Interface can be controlled by an external MIDI controller. You can change the MIDI channel for each control to totally customise RSSD02 Dark Guitar to suit you.

You also have the option to unload any Articulation Groups you don't need if you want to reduce the RAM footprint of the instrument.

REVERB SENDS

The Wall of Sound Instrument has 2 Convolution Reverb Units similar to the other instruments.

The difference is that each of the 4 Guitars can send a different amount of signal to each Unit allowing a much greater depth of sound.

TEMPO-SYNCED GATES

There are 2 Master Tempo-synced Gates that operate independently from each other - One for Volume the other for LP Filter.

Choose Filter rates from 1/16th beat up to 4 beats. Triplet options aswell.

Move your sounds ...

You can select forward or reversed versions of any sound at will by using the Mod Wheel. Simply change the position of the Mod Wheel before playing a note to change direction. Combine this with the Playback Offset Controls to create on-the-fly loops and textural movement.

TEMPO-SYNCED AUTOPAN

Chord Pad, MFX and Loops Instruments all come with Tempo-synced AutoPan.

Choose synced LR Pan rates from 1/16th beat up to 4 beats. Triplet options aswell.
